Abe Davis / Waukegan, IL / Meritorious Service

A great promoter of the sport, in the early 1960’s, Davis fought for the opportunity for blacks to bowl in organized league play. He formed the first black league (YMCA #1) in 1962 at park Bowl and later started the (YMCA #2) league at O’Farrell’s Lanes and the Trinity AME Church league at Bertrand Lanes.

Don Voight / Waukegan, IL / Meritorious Service

A junior coach for over 20 years at Bertrand Lanes, Voight helped coach hundreds of junior bowlers in his career. Retired as past president of the LCBA with over 20 years on the board, Don won two LCBA Championship Tournament titles, one single, and two team titles.

John Ryan / Waukegan, IL / Performance

In 1934, John won the National ABC Doubles title and was the first “Sweet 16” champion in 1945. He also won the Peterson Classic twice, had twelve 300 games, and had the reputation for bowling head-to-head matches with a passion.
