Russ Bain / Antioch, IL / Performance

Russ began his sanctioned competition in 1967 as a member of the Antioch Lanes Junior Program. After graduation from high school, Russ decided to make bowling a lifelong commitment by accepting a full-time position at Antioch Lanes. In 1991, he became the proprietor of Antioch Lanes. On the performance side, Russ was a member of the PBA from 1975 to 1983 and competed on the regional and national level. Russ has ten sanctioned 300 games, one PBA 300, and four sanctioned 800 series with a high of 824. He also has averaged over 200 for the last 30 years of league play and has four LCBA Championship Tournament Team titles.

Cornelius Van Fleet / Waukegan, IL / Meritorious Service

Cornelius started his bowling career in 1942 and has been working in the business since 1944. During his span of 60 years, he has been a pin setter, mechanic, counter person, bartender, ball driller and as the manager and junior league instructor for Grayslake Bowl from 1957 to 1970. When Grayslake Bowl closed in 1970, he began working at Sunset Lanes where he can still be found today. His highest league average was 192 with a high series of 752.

David Greenup / Waukegan, IL / Meritorious Service

David has spent the last 18 years as an officer of the Lake County Bowling Association and has made many contributions to better the sport. As an LCBA Board Member, David has either chaired or served on every committee, including 12 consecutive years as chairman of the Audit, Budget & Finance Committee and he is the only person to serve as LCBA President for two consecutive years. David has also participated in the LCBA Championship Tournament for 20 consecutive years and has a high game of 279 and a career high series of 743.

Allan Markle, Ph.D. / Grayslake, IL / Performance

Let’s start off by noting that Allan has averaged 200+ for over 40 years with a high average of 228 and his last five-year Lake County composite average is a whopping 216. Allan’s career started at the University of Illinois from 1958 to 1962 where he won six collegiate titles. After graduation, Allan was a member of the 1966 Hamm’s Beer 1966 National Championship team. He holds eight Illinois State Titles, seven City Titles, and still holds the second highest average ever held in the Classic Traveling League. Allan has four 300 games, five 299 games, twenty two 290 games and four 800 series with a high of 855.

John Miller / Gurnee, IL / Performance

John has held a 200+ average for 15 straight years with a high average of 217. He has five 300 games, six eleven-in-a-row games, and a high series of 811. John has competed in ten Illinois State Tournaments with a first place team honor and a Doubles Championship Title in 1999. In 2000, John finished 11 th in the PBA Senior Open at Hawthorn Lanes. In addition to his numerous bowling achievements, John has been an LCBA Board Member since 1986, including one year as President.
